Street photography: Cambridge | by Cambridgeshire photographer Diana Hagues
I love wandering around Cambridge. The atmosphere and vibe feels cosmopolitan, yet laid-back with its big, open spaces. It is not just the university college buildings and beautiful architecture that I love. The market, people and the bicycles to the back streets of the city.
Over the summer, I joined with my camera club on a photographic outing devoted to street photography in Cambridge. Street photography is a form of photography that I find fascinating, because it is a way of recording everyday life and society in a place.
As a photographer, I like to document something similar for the people I photograph; capturing their everyday moments as well as the human emotions and connection to their surrounding. Photographing strangers out in the public took me out of my comfort zone, but it was a fun and rewarding experience.
Here is a selection of photos from our summer outing.
