Boyhood | Season of Motherhood | Documentary family photographer in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

I look at you, my firstborn, and there’s something remarkable that I am starting to notice. Both hands in your pockets, feet dragging slightly on that gravel, slowly moving forward along the path ahead of you. It’s remarkable in a way, because it feels like not that long ago since you were skipping along, maybe one hand holding onto mine. Now look at you walking ahead on your own. It’s another sign of you growing a little older, changes that I might not fully understand, but I feel like it’s a journey I am appreciating learning and, walking behind or right beside you, you take me on your journey with you, neither of us knowing which way your path will go or whether it’s clear or not. Not that it matters at the moment. When the time is right, you will follow your own path. And I’ll be watching, waiting, curious to discover where you will go.

This is ‘Seasons of Motherhood’, part of the ARTEFACT MOTHERHOOD project, where we tell a story with one picture that depicts our current season of motherhood. Visit my wonderful friend and the next artist, Min Mohd.
