The Asian Us | Season of Motherhood

A Chinese family sit around a table eating dim sum and congee at home in London.

Growing up I never had a keen desire to learn about my Chinese culture. We had some simple traditions that we would follow and my parents would instil their Asian values in us so we didn't forget our heritage. But the other day one child came home from school asking if we celebrated Lunar New Year after learning about it in school. I could sense their growing curiosity towards these Chinese traditions we follow, which leads me to wonder what questions they would ask in future about their heritage particularly of their Asian family side. Questions that for me have been quietly whispering away and growing louder over the years.

This is ‘Season of Motherhood’, part of the ARTEFACT MOTHERHOOD project, where we tell a story with one picture that depicts our current season of motherhood.
